Cognac is a French brandy-type brandy from the Cognac region and is a distilled white wine. For this, the Ugni Blanc grape is mainly used, which gives an acidic white wine with an alcohol percentage of approx. 8%.
The distillate is now stored for many years and when it can no longer develop, an alcohol percentage of between 40 and 43 has now been achieved. The distillate is then mixed with other distillates so that the winemaker can get the taste he wants.
Now the distillate rests again, this time between 6 months and 12 years, and only then is the cognac bottled.
V,S. (Very Special) with an age of at least 2 years.
VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) aged at least 4.5 years.
XO (Extra Old) with an age of at least 10 years.
