The Bruichladdich distillery is located directly by the sea on the small island of Islay in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Scotland. The distillery has been producing single malt whiskey since 1881 - although interrupted by a short break from 1929 to 1937 - and has a proud tradition of making single malt whiskey in the traditional way.
Thus, Bruichladdich is 100% handmade without the use of a computer in the production, not cold-filtered and without added color (caramel). Bruichladdich is also the only whiskey from Islay that is also bottled on the island and all aging takes place in sherry casks and/or American oak casks.
