Laphroaig is produced on the island of Islay, which is located on the west coast of Scotland.
The whiskeys that are produced on the island are known for the smoky taste that comes through the island's special peat, which is used to dry the wet malt in the ovens. This gives a whiskey with a very strong smoky taste.
The island's other well-known distilleries include Ardbeg, Bowmore and Lagavulin.
