Sun and summer equal rosé wine. Whether it is to be drunk on the terrace or in the garden in big heavy sips, or for the buffet, light grilled dishes and salads.
Rosé wine is totally in and trendy right now and - no - rosé wine is not a mixture of red and white wine. On the other hand, you can say that every red wine has at some point been a rosé, as the rosé is made from red wine grapes but only draws color from the skin for a maximum of a few days, in some cases only a few hours.
At this point, the grape skins have given off very little color and tannic acid to the must, which is the reason for the characteristic pink color of the rosé.
And so anyway: In some places you make a slightly cheaper quality by mixing an appropriate amount of red and white. It is perfectly legal, and a good little wine often comes out of this method.
In addition, red wine is produced in many shades of color from the deepest red to a wine so light that it almost blends into the rosé wines.
