Røde Kristian is the story of a local drunkard from Grauballe, who disappeared at the end of the 19th century on a walk from Svostrup Kro to Silkeborg. During the excavation of the Grauballemanden in 1952, many in the local area believed for several years afterwards that it was Red Christian and not a 2000-year-old corpse. Both were redheads.

The color and taste suggest this history, which is deeply rooted in the area around Grauballe Bryghus.
