In 1879 with only fifty dollars in his pocket, Giacomo Peirano, a grape grower from Genoa, Italy, emigrated to San Francisco, hoping to fulfill the American dream of getting rich by finding gold. He soon found that the great Gold Rush was winding down, so he took the rest of his $50 and moved to Lodi.
Lodi at this time was home to mining tenants, so he soon saw a need for daily supplies and necessities for the miners. The idea was a pure money machine and when he was home to visit his family in Italy, he brought Italian Zinfandel cuttings from his family's vineyard. This would prove to be the most important family jewel for centuries to come.
He continued to propagate and plant Zinfandel vines, creating one of the first vineyards in Lodi.
In 1992, the fourth generation of the Peirano family, Lance Randolph, began cultivating the 300-acre estate to prove that Lodi could produce high-quality wines. After great praise for his elegant wines, he decided to start his own bottling and selling of Peirano wine.
In recent years, Peirano has won several awards for producing top wines using Giacomo Peirano's ancient techniques.

Peirano Estate Vineyards Chardonnay
Peirano Chardonnay, which is grown in the central part of Lodi, is made according to a double harvest system where half of the vineyard is harvested at the end of August, when the grapes still have fresh acidity, while the other half is picked 3-4 weeks later, when the grapes is has a much higher sugar content. It is then aged in French casks for 12 months.
The wine has a lovely aroma of vanilla, citrus and ripe tangerines, with a slight buttery touch.
Delicious full taste of tropical fruit, which ends in a long, nice aftertaste with citrus and rounded vanilla notes.
The wine goes well with smoked salmon, trout, tuna or grilled spicy chicken wrapped in bacon.
