A few years ago, large parts of the Barossa Valley were covered in forests and wild eucalyptus trees. Today, many of these forests have disappeared in favor of agriculture, but you can still find large areas with these majestic trees that give a good indication of what the landscape once looked like.

Cool Wood's label represents precisely these fantastic trees that elegantly cast their long shadows on a beautiful misty winter morning. The trees are bordered by long straight rows of vines, beautifully finished by Thorn Clarke's cellar door.

The slightly draining soil structure, combined with the warm days and the cold nights, makes it easy for Thorn Clarke to produce these wonderful wines with fine texture, softness and nice body. They call the wines the Cool Woods series, and they make a red Shiraz, a Pinot Noir, and a white Chardonnay.

The color is clear but with an intense deep red character.
Nice aroma of spice, a hint of nutmeg, fresh peppercorns, intense aroma with a hint of vanilla, and a slightly smoky aroma that probably originates from the American oak barrels.

The taste is rich and full-bodied, with fine spicy notes, a little plum and cherry, and a hint of vanilla, which makes the wine soft and creamy at the end. Fine tannins and rounded tannic acid help make the wine a great experience.
