Malbec is still the most successful grape, but excellent Cabernet Sauvingon and white wines made from Torrentes are also made. The latter is very similar to Gewurztraminer, full and bold with good fruit.
The meltwater from the Andes mountains, the warm and dry climate, make it a relatively easy matter to grow wine in Argentina. On the other hand, you have to pay more attention to how high the vineyards are, as this is often where the difference in the wine arises.
Mendoza is the place where the best wines are produced.
