Armand de Brignac - and so called "Ace of Spades" - is one of the most exclusive champagne houses and was launched in 2006 by Cattier, a French champagne company. In 2014, the house was bought by the American rapper Jay-Z and is today owned fifty-fifty by Jay-Z and the French luxury group LVMH (Dom P., Ruinart, Veuve Clicquot, Château Cheval Blanc, etc.).
One of the things that makes Armand de Brignac extremely exclusive is that the champagne is produced exclusively from the juice from the first pressing, which classifies it as a Prestige Cuvee. A Cuvee Prestige contains only the best wine from each harvest, so the champagne becomes more complex and flavorful as it ages.
The dosage is a special Liqueur de Dosage, made according to a secret recipe that has been passed down in the family over the years. The liqueur is made from fine cane sugar and a mixture of the very best still wines from previous harvests and aged in wooden barrels.
Another detail that adds extra finesse to Armand de Brignac is that the bottles are corked, sealed and then the four metal labels are fitted manually by a craftsman who finishes by polishing the bottle.
