White wine from Alto Adige

Alto Adige, with its location in the southern Alps and the Dolomites, has a completely unique history with the many wars that, among other things, has meant that the population speaks both German and Italian, and that all the cities today have two names. Alto Adige is also known for its very wide range of grape varieties, which are probably not seen as widely in other parts of Italy. These include, among other things, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, but also Müller Thurgau, Sylvaner, Kerner, Riesling and Veltliner are produced in the area. In total, around 20 different white grape varieties can be gathered, which make up around 58% of the planted area.
Winemaking in Alto Adige is not the easiest, as the fields are not fields, but rather steep slopes or terraces with 3-5 rows of vines. This means that much must be done by hand, as the machines cannot come forward.
