The house was founded in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc and is located in the heart of Champagne, namely in the town of Epernay, which houses some of the largest champagne houses (along with the old royal city of Reims).

In 2012, the house was taken over by an American couple and they employed Hervé Jestin as winemaker/cellar master. Jestin has a penchant for developing organic and biodynamic champagnes and several of the house's champagnes are also released as vegan.

This also means that no dosage (sugar) is added in connection with the second fermentation, which is why all champagnes are labeled Brut Zero.
