Mineral and fruity white wines with a moderate alcohol percentage are characteristic of the Mosel wine region. Due to the long ripening period, the vines (and thus the grapes) extract the maximum from the subsoil.

91% of the wine region's planted area is green grapes for the production of white wines. Riesling is significantly the most planted grape (62%). The "Queen of the Green Grape" is particularly suitable in this area with very steep slopes of slate. Long maturation time produces elegant, mineral, fruity and long-lasting wines.

The easy-to-use Riesling produces wines of all qualities and degrees of sweetness. From completely dry white wines to light-fruity, semi-sweet to decidedly sweet. Therefore, take an extra look at the bottle the next time you buy white wine from the Mosel - they may contain surprises you didn't see coming.

In addition to Riesling, the area is planted with Müller-Thurgau, Weisser Burgunder, Spätburger and a Mosel specialty, namely Elbling.

As mentioned, the vineyards are located on very steep slopes. In fact, the world's steepest vineyard is located in this region, namely Calmont, which slopes at an impressive 68%.
