Geographically, Brouilly is the Cru Beaujolais, spanning the largest area of the Beaujolais region, from Mâcon in the north to Lyon in the south.

The history of Chateau de Pierreaux goes back to the beginning of the 16th century and belonged then to Thibault de Pierreux. Subsequently, the castle has changed hands several times, but is today owned and run by the famous Mommessin family, who often use the impressive property for private events.

Chateau de Pierreaux is located at the top of a small hill with a unique panoramic view. To the east you can see the plain of the Saône and all the vines of the Brouilly appellation, and on a clear day Mont Blanc can be seen in the distance. To the north, the view is blocked by the impressive Mont Brouilly, an old extinct volcano that Chateau de Pierreux uses for their red Gamay grape.
