In the heart of Jamaica we find the Appleton Estate. One of the few rums in the world that can highlight "terroir", including unique weather and growing conditions for sugar cane, as a major reason for the unique quality.
Located in the Nassau Valley, Appleton Estate traces its origins back to 1655, when Sir Francis Dickenson founded the farm. The first production of rum can be documented back to 1749, and is thus the oldest distillery in Jamaica with continuous production of rum.
The rum is produced at a very high level of craftsmanship. Every step of the production is monitored – from the selection of sugar cane, the use of natural yeast in the process to aging in barrels and the final blending by the Master Blender.
Appleton Estate 21 YO Nassau Valley Casks, ages for a MINIMUM of 21 years and is a blend of Appleton's unique hand-selected copper pot-stills and their column-still distillates, which gives a large part of the special taste in the finished rum. This opens up a very rich and full-bodied rum, which has both power from the pot-still distillate, as well as a unique softness from the column distillate. You can easily taste the age here.
Appleton's flagship - which has a fantastically beautiful dark color, which is solely the answer to a life journey on mine. 21 years, in American bourbon casks. Floral fragrance notes which quickly turn into nuts, with notes of deep vanilla, orange peel, nutmeg, hot coffee and cocoa.
