Pol Roger created their Prestige Cuvee as a tribute to Churchill and the qualities he valued in Champagne: robustness, a full-bodied character and good maturity. The exact blend is a well-kept secret in the family, but it is debatable that the wine would be approved by the man for whom it was created: "My taste is simple, I am happily satisfied with the best". Dominated by Pinot Noir, which contributes structure, width and robustness, while Chardonnay provides elegance, finesse and crispness. Blended exclusively from grapes from Cru fields that were already planted during Churchill's lifetime. Cuvee SWC is only made in the best years and is always sent to the market later than the other Vintage wines from Pol Roger, in understanding Churchill's taste for older wines. The first cuvee SWC was based on vintage 75' and released in 84'.
